Do Georgia DUIs come off your record?

No.  The look-back period has nothing to do with “clearing” your record.  A DUI conviction or nolo plea stays on your criminal history forever.  It does not come off even after acquittal! 

Let’s be clear.  Your “record” begins when you are fingerprinted and photographed at the jail.  That information is sent to the Georgia Crime Information Computer (GCIC).  No one has the authority to erase that information, unless you qualify for an expungement.  Your “record” will be supplemented at the end of your case with information about what happened in court.

Your insurance company may take a DUI off its records after a set period of time.  Your arrest may be found by some private background investigators, the military, FBI, CIA and law enforcement, even if your insurer no longer cares about the arrest.
